I recently went through the interview process for a Trading System Engineer on the Trading Systems team at WorldQuant's London office. The entire process was well-structured and comprehensive, spanning multiple stages that tested different aspects of technical knowledge and problem-solving skills. Here's my detailed experience for those who might be interested in applying.

WorldQuant, LLC was founded in 2007 as a quantitative investment management firm spun out of Millennium Management in New York City. Prior to forming WorldQuant, its Belarus-born founder Igor Tulchinsky (* 1966) had worked at Millennium as a portfolio manager since 1995.

General idea of interview process

The interview process at WorldQuant moved surprisingly quickly, with everything wrapped up within just two weeks (assuming you respond promptly at each stage). Like most hedge funds, they maintain a high level of confidentiality around their hiring process, so detailed information can be hard to find beforehand. Here's my experience applying for their London-based Trading Systems role and also sharing preparation resources for same.

Initial Contact

The process began when a recruiter reached out to me via LinkedIn. I hadn't actually applied directly, so it was a pleasant surprise to be contacted for such an interesting role.

Stage 1: Hackerrank Assessment (30 minutes)
